去年暑假，我、三个同学和家长一行去青岛，参加 “外研通杯新概念英语大赛。”
晚上，所有的选手进行了抽签，我们被分在了a组，田潇乐18号，我24号，张婉琳28号，孟心语36号。回到宾馆，我们几个就感到有点紧张的气氛了，有的同学就拿出相关的书来背起来，有的装着若无其事的样子，但从她的行动上还是能看出一点点异样来。
第二天早上七点30分，正式开始比赛，一走进200多平方米的比赛大厅，妈呀，早已人山人海，有点水泄不通。
比赛开始了，一号选手是一个小男孩，他在自我介绍时有点慌张，背课文时，支支吾吾很不流利，当评委提问时，竟然连小孩都会的问题都答不出来了，在表演完后差不多是哭着下台的。我们更加感到紧张，赶紧准备起来，家长见状，只好给我们打气：“孩子，不要害怕，我们能来到这里，就是最棒的，重在参与。”这种声音一直回荡在我们的耳边……
时间过的好快，不一会儿，该田潇乐上场了！我紧张的眼珠快要掉出来了，还好，她在台上显得镇定自若，背完课文后，回答问题和才艺展示后，大大方方的走下台。我高兴地跑过去，并说道：“田潇乐！你太棒了！”她又欣喜地说，谢啦，但快到你了，快准备吧。我高亢的心情又一下子跌落到谷底。‘19号、20号、21号、22号、23号、24号！’该我了！我的天！这咋就这么快呢，我的手呦，别再冰冷；我的腿呦，别再颤抖！我还是磕磕拌拌的.上台了。
oh,my gad!当时我面对着这么多的眼睛，心跳都快要停住了！先是一番自我介绍，本来想讲得眉飞色舞，谁知，脑子一片空白，下文呢？忘了！只好来了个“自我拯救”——自己现编吧，结果效果还是不好，说了好几遍“i’m sorry.”哼，气死我了！接下来是现场抽签背课文，“开始。”“stop！”哈哈，天助我也，我抽到了我最拿手的课文，“now i will bigan!……”课文顺利背完了，该评委问了，因本人紧张过度，也像第一位那样：没能回答问题，我心里又没有数了，心情到‘大慌特慌’的程度了。还好，接下来，是我比较拿手的才艺展示，一番热舞后，得到了一片掌声，也算是给了我一点点的心理安慰吧。
所有的比赛结束了，公布成绩时，我们没有进全国赛，真的感到好遗憾。我想了好久，终于明白了一个道理：机会对于每个人都是均等的，有的人抓住了，并做好充分的准备，迎接他们的就是鲜花与掌声，而我，却没有做到，结局就是这样的了！
